DISMAL PERFORMANCE OF PTCL IN SITE INDUSTRIAL ESTATE KARACHI

Karachi (01-09-2010) Mr. Salim Parekh, Chairman of S.I.T.E. Association of Industry has expressed much anxiety on not ending of the out going strike of PTCL employees for more than one month and not attending the receiving complaints against the recurring interruptions and reported faults in the PTCL services in the biggest industrial estate of Pakistan.

The recent continuation of strike by PTCL employees has given another reason for PTCL officials in SITE to seek excuses for not attending the faults.

The SITE Industrial Estate in Karachi, with greatest Industrial import consumption and export outward trade volumes for overseas markets deserves a due treatment being the substantial revenue supporting industrial estate for PTCL.

The Cable faults and other minor faults with their continued registration of complaints by individual industrialists in own chase up and through the association remains un-attended for the needful of capital repairs to reduce and eliminate the high frequency interruptions in the PTCL services through out the year and particularly in these days.

The Industrialists in the SITE are preferring to switchover to wireless, mobile services and other modes preferred for by contracting service providers other than PTCL, as such it will be revenue loss for PTCL itself in the future when the trust deficits converts into total switchover from PTCL to other service providers.

It would be not out of the context to mention that our former Chairman, Engr. M.A. Jabbar, remains disconnected with the facility of 11 telephone lines including fax services for many days and the situation remain so as recurring complaint registration throughout the year. So many other members of association namely Diamond Textile (Pvt) Ltd, Al-Azmat (Pvt) Ltd, Razak Silk Mills (Pvt) Ltd, Zeenat Shirt Factory,  Nawab Brothers Steel Mills (Pvt) Ltd , Futehally Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd, Z.K. Industries are also complaining of recurring faults and no relief has been retrieved to them so far.

SITE Association would like the higher ups of PTCL to order capital repair works preferably out sourced if the operating and maintaining staff in the SITE remains infected by go glow or no work policy which is taking the trade facilitation to zero on account of dismal performance of PTCL in SITE Karachi, the biggest and the oldest industrial estate of Pakistan.

SITE Association also would like to request government of Pakistan to take cognizance of deterioration of PTCL services in the biggest industrial estate of Pakistan which remains without communications support due to immunity which PTCL is self enjoying
against the complaints made in this regard off and on. The tax payers of the biggest industrial estate contributing in sizeable exports of the country deserve a fair treatment possibly with the pressure of government of Pakistan and privatization commission in terms of promised improved services by the private purchasing party at the time of takeover of PTCL from GOP.
