STREET CRIMES ON RISE AGAIN IN SITE AREA SAYS ABDUL WAHAB LAKHANI CHAIRMAN S.I.T.E. ASSOCIATION

Karachi (08-09-2011): Mr. Abdul Wahab Lakhani, Chairman, S.I.T.E. Association of Industry has expressed deep concern over the recent rise in street crimes in SITE area. He recalled that the crime was controlled to some extent after the visit of Federal Home Minister Mr. A. Rehman Malik and Sind Home Minister Mr. Manzoor Wasan to the SITE Association on August 20, 2011. But since after the Eid holidays the criminals are freely operating unchecked throughout the SITE area and the Association is receiving complaints from the members as well as general public of being relieved of their belongings like cash, cell phones and motor bikes in broad day light. No high ups or even the SHOs were available in their offices when the responsible Office Bearers of the Association tried to contact them. Perhaps they are busy in VIP movements or attending the Supreme Court hearing presently going on in Karachi on the Karachi Target killings. The entire SITE and adjoining areas are left to the mercy of lawless elements.

Mr. Lakhani said that yesterday two industrialists were robbed of their mobile and cash factory. One of them immediately ran to SITE Police Station and told the Duty Officer to look for the culprits, as they could not have got away that fast from the Police Station. The Officers present there .refused to accompany him.

Second incident happened to another industrialist near Koila Wala Kaanat opposite Philips Company. There too criminals robbed him of his mobile and cash. It is a matter of daily routine that bikers rob people of their valuables. Another daring dacoity is reported at Shahina Textile in SITE area.  The robbers took away Rs. 500,000 of salary along the cash and mobile phones of staff and workers.

Mr. Abdul Wahab Lakhani has urged Hon’ble Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Home Minister Manzoor Wasan to take an note of this and do the needful to curb the crime in the area; otherwise feeling of insecurity among the investors will drive them away from this crime infected area/city to other safe heavens, for which the custodians of Law and Order will alone be responsible.
